A Vicious Hot Chick

A Vicious Hot Chick, originally uploaded by ~db~.

I tried a Vicious Dogs Hot Chick last year, on the first day it came out, and indeed it's been refined a bit, if you can really call this refined. It's still a bacon wrapped dog topped with chopped peppers, mozzarella, chopped chicken tenders, and both "buffalo frank" and ranch sauces. One difference now is the cheese is on top, kinda sealing everything in. Also, this time it was served on a poppy seed bun, which was nice. Actually, the whole thing is nice if you're hungry, and I was. A good combination of crunchy and chewy, spicy and sweet. Dog and onion rings, about $9.

The Slaw Dogs Traditional

The Slaw Dogs Traditional, originally uploaded by ~db~.
A Traditional from The Slaw Dogs is just what it says. A good straightforward chili dog. A 1/4 pound Vienna beef dog, beer chili, cheddar cheese, mustard, and chopped onions. Real good. Very filling, with a decent chili. But what was absolutely fantastic were those fries up there in the corner. Cooked perfectly, they were crunchy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. I might just go back for these alone sometime. Under $8 for dog and fries.

Vicious Chicken Little

A great dog for when I'm hungry, but don't want something too heavy. It's a chicken and apple sausage, topped with nacho cheese sauce, chopped peppers, and pico do gallo. About $5.

A True LA Street Dog

A True LA Street Dog, originally uploaded by ~db~.

One of the best things when the Space Shuttle Endeavour came home was seeing dozens of vendors serving street dogs throughout the area. Often the carts were only a few feet apart, often cooking the same ingredients. All at the same price. Nice.

After perusing a bit, I made my choice, getting it with everything. That means a bacon-wrapped dog stuffed in a cheap bun, with mustard and ketchup, crema, topped with well grilled onions.

The real deal, it was excellent. About $3.
