Shrooms Are Like God

The Independent is reporting that researchers at Johns Hopkins University have demonstrated that there is no difference between drug-induced mystical experiences and spontaneous religious experiences. In the U.S. part of the study, one third of the subjects described their psilocybin trip as the single most spiritually significant event of their lifetime.

In more than 60 per cent of cases the experience qualified as a "full mystical experience" based on established psychological scales, the researchers say. Some likened it to the importance of the birth of their first child or the death of a parent.
