Baby Sent Through X-Ray Machine

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that an unidentified 56-year-old woman inadvertently sent a baby through an X-ray machine at LAX last Saturday. The baby was taken to a nearby hospital and found to be okay, with doctors saying he had not received a dangerous dose of radiation. The woman and child were later allowed to board a flight to Mexico City.
"Rather than focus on the radiation dose, which is a small amount, we need to focus on why this happened, so it doesn't happen again," said Dr. James Borgstede, a diagnostic radiologist at Penrose-St. Francis Health Systems in Colorado Springs, Colo., and president of the American College of Radiology. "Human beings weren't meant to go through those things."
